ASC collaborates with industry peers, service companies, academia and researchers to develop new technologies that address the challenges of oil and gas exploration and production. We are working to help Saudi Aramco find new processes that improve the performance of petroleum products and lighten the environmental footprint.

Industry-wide Collaboration
We contribute to knowledge, research and standards in a number of ways.  We are involved in leadership roles through a number of professional groups, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), American Petroleum Industry (API), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Association of Automation, Process Industry Practices, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA).

Either through ASC or our parent company, we have research relationships with leading universities, including Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Additionally, we serve as a member of the MIT Energy Initiative, a consortium committed to finding solutions to the energy issues.

Upstream and Downstream Research
ASC’s upstream and downstream engineers and geoscientists, in partnership with Saudi Aramco, are part of research teams as well as in partnerships to find top technologies and industry best practices to refer to Saudi Aramco. These groups focus on a range of issues, including:

Upstream:
  • Computational Modeling
  • Drilling Engineering
  • Geology Geophysics Production Engineering
  • Reservoir Engineering
Downstream:
  • Gas treatment/upgrading (low quality gas)
  • Network integrity (focus on corrosion)
  • NGL technologies
  • Sulfur removal and usage - oil & gas (pre-CDU)
  • Crude upgrading (pre-CDU)
  • Fuel formulation
  • Lubricant formulation
  • Oil-to-chemicals (refining)
  • Carbon capture (stationary)
  • Refining hydro treating/cracking technology
  • Refining catalyst technologies
  • Refining automation/control measurement
  • Heavy fuel for clean energy
  • Oil-to-chemicals (direct)
  • Oil-to-hydrogen
  • Carbon management (mobile)
  • CO2 conversion
  • Energy efficiency solutions
