During opening day at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), Aramco and the leading oil and gas service provider Schlumberger were awarded with the 2016 Hart Energy’s Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation in the category of Intelligent Systems and Components for their efforts with the “Manara Production and Reservoir Management System.”
Aramco was recognized as a co-developer and a co-sponsor of this project, with installations taking place in Saudi Arabia and other countries. The award recognizes EXPEC ARC’s Production Technology Team, specifically, the advanced completion team for their active role in the Manara project. This award demonstrates the broad interest for Manara technology even outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reinforces Aramco’s industry leadership and commitment to developing new technologies.
According to Brett Bouldin, ERC Manara Project Director and Advanced Completions Focus Area Champion, the ERC project was founded to create the world’s first “smart lateral” system, branching flow metering and flow control capabilities into multiple segments of each lateral. The system improves well productivity and enables better drainage optimization.
