Drilling equipment manufacturers learn about business opportunities
Significant business opportunities are available for drilling equipment manufacturers interested in collaborating with Saudi Aramco.
Saudi Aramco’s Ahmed N. Al Zahrani and Abdulrahman S. Dawas in Materials Supply/Strategic Procurement & Sourcing Division, on behalf of the Drilling Category Management team, conveyed this message and more early May to a group of about 40 representatives in the drilling sector. The Aramco Services Co. (ASC) Procurement & Logistics/Strategic Projects Group hosted the briefing, which was held in the ASC auditorium in Houston.
Al Zahrani provided an overview of upcoming business opportunities in the areas of downhole, wellhead and drilling bits. In addition to telling the group about the significant investment in drilling materials that the company plans to make over the next several years, he outlined the company’s new procurement strategies and category management concepts.
He said that the company is opening up more lines of communication with suppliers, adding that, as an example, procurement for downhole and wellhead equipment is being managed by category segmentation. Six newly created categories will better define how Saudi Aramco partners with key suppliers in the areas of rotating equipment, static equipment, drilling, steel pipes, electrical and instrumentation and chemicals.
