ASC Volunteers Help Feed the Hungry

More than 60 Aramco Service Company (ASC) volunteers, including some family members and summer students, spent time at the Houston Food Bank to help feed the hungry on July 16.

Volunteers helped by packaging, sorting and handling approximately 12,576 pounds of food on July 16. The volunteer event was held at the Houston Food Bank's 308,000-square-foot warehouse located in the fifth ward of Houston. The Houston Food Bank is the largest in the country, capable of feeding more than 850,000 families a year, and ASC employees certainly played a role in aiding that accomplishment.

Since the food bank has limited resources to hire employees, the majority of relief comes from volunteers. Specifically, volunteers account for 65 percent of the food bank's distribution efforts. Following what has become an annual tradition, the volunteers expressed their joy in working together to help the local community.

ASC volunteer efforts during this event helped provide about 10,480 meals for those in need in the Greater Houston area.
