Ensuring that young students understand the building blocks of science and energy has never been more important to our future. To help educate local youth about energy conservation and use, we’ve partnered with the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) to launch ‘Aramco iExplore’—a program consisting of fifth graders and their teachers from different schools in the Greater Houston area.
In addition to enhancing students’ understanding of how energy works, the initiative is centered on creating excitement about future careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The program has a two-part structure, with teachers first attending a one-day workshop to outline a set of exercises for students to complete while at the museum. Next, the students visit HMNS and participate in hands-on activities designed to get them thinking about energy-related concepts and careers. The result: students who are more engaged, and teachers who are equipped with new techniques to keep students interested in science and STEM-related fields.
