Aramco Services Company

AAPG 2016

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is an international geological organization which attracts thousands of geosciences professionals each year to its annual convention and exhibition.   Saudi Aramco has been a longtime supporter of AAPG and its Imperial Barrel Award Program (IBA) which is designed for geoscience graduate students to compete for scholarship funds for their school.  The IBA provides international recognition and promotes the advancement and training of geoscience students worldwide.
This year Aramco continues its proud tradition by participating in AAPG’s Annual Conference & Exhibition with contributions to the technical program and sponsorship and judging for the IBA program.  This year three Saudi Aramco employees will be honored by AAPG during the conference opening session and awards ceremony for their activities and support of AAPG and the geosciences profession.  The winners are:  Hussain M. Al Otaibi for Honorary Member Award.  This award is bestowed to individuals who have distinguished themselves by their service and devotion to the science and professional of petroleum geology and to AAPG.  It is designated as AAPG’s third most distinguished award.   Abdulkader M. Afiti and Sa’id A. Al Hajri will each receive a Distinguished Service Award for long-term service to the organization.
Aramco’s participation signals our steadfast commitment to one of our company’s core competencies—petroleum science.  By participating in this conference, we share our expertise and promote our company as a pioneer in petroleum exploration and production.  Our participation also supports the association and its non-profit outreach activities.  The conference provides an opportunity to network and maintain a strong potential candidate pool plus draw attention to other more recent company activities, including our downstream chemicals program and expansion of our research and development program.
