Before You Leave the Office
If you must leave the office due to an approaching hurricane, the following checklist provides some recommended actions to prepare and preserve your work area.
  • Clear all desks, tables and other exposed horizontal surfaces of materials that may be susceptible to high winds and water. Place them in secured drawers or filing cabinets.

  • Store books, valuable papers and equipment inside cabinets or boxes, or transfer them to an interior room.

  • Move all artwork and furniture away from windows and turn bookcases to face the wall if possible.

  • Store personal items in a safe area or remove them from the building.

  • Relocate equipment away from exterior windows.

  • Turn off any non-essential electrical equipment (e.g., printer, scanner, PC, monitor, etc.).

  • Close office doors.
