15 Years of Commitment, 15 Years of Memories

Houston -

Aramco marks its 15th year as sponsor of the Aramco Houston Half Marathon during Houston marathon weekend, Jan. 18-20, 2019.

Cheered on by thousands of spectators, more than 25,000 runners are expected to take to the streets of Houston to participate in one of three races—the We Are Houston 5K, the Aramco Houston Half Marathon (13.1 miles) or the Chevron Houston Marathon (26.2miles).

This will be the first year Aramco and Chevron have teamed up to sponsor the We Are Houston 5K which lost its sponsor last year.

Aramco employees, friends and family members provide a warm welcome to runners from all over the world. More than 200 volunteers will meet and greet participants as they pick up their race packets and T-shirts on Friday and Saturday before the races on Sunday. Many of those same volunteers will cheer on the runners—presenting them with finisher medals upon completion of their race.

The Marathon’s “Run for a Reason” program connects the philanthropic community with passionate race participants who raise funds and awareness for meaningful causes. Since the program’s inception in 1995, more than $28 million has benefitted charities.

Trees for Houston has been designated as Aramco’s “Run for a Reason” charity beneficiary this year. As part of Aramco’s commitment to the environment, the company has been a longtime supporter of Trees for Houston, with our volunteers helping to plant and maintain thousands of trees across the Greater Houston area. Trees for Houston has planted more than a half million trees since it was founded in 1983. Tree planting and maintenance has become a very popular volunteer event with employees saying they enjoy “digging into” the task of making Houston greener.
